Day 5 of Blogtober

I began a new job two weeks ago. I now work in environmental services at a hospital in the city. I’m excited because I am in the healthcare industry, working behind the scenes. I’m not looking to become a nurse’s aid, a nurse, or a doctor of any kind. Around this time last year, my car was repossessed via surrender when I filed for bankruptcy. A lot of drama occurred, causing me to resign from a job I loved. I did what I could to keep the lights on, a roof over Zora and my head, got her to school, and tried my hardest to find a job. I wasn’t going back to where I was before Zora came into my life, and I wasn’t going to take Zora with me, either.

Between mid-October last year and early February, I started posting more frequently on YouTube and enrolled in a job readiness program. I was scheduled to begin a part-time job, but I had to drop out due to illness. I didn’t want to infect anyone else. I improved, visited the doctor, and resumed the program. From there, I began working part-time, submitted applications, conducted practice interviews, and went on to real interviews until I landed where I am now.

I have some goals I want to accomplish while I’m in my current position at work: obtaining a car, publishing a book, completing my degree, and purchasing a house. The first thing I need to do is sit down and create a budget to determine where I can start saving money, until I have some saved up and can begin rebuilding my emergency fund. The one thing I wish I had never done was emptying my 401(k). Lesson learned.

I guess that’s it for today! I’ll see you all tomorrow!
