Hi, readers! Tomorrow begins Banned Books Week. I was going to read several books this week, but one came too late for me to participate in the event. There is a list of the most commonly banned and challenged books on the PEN America website, which you can check out.
According to the American Library Association, Banned Books Week began in 1982 as a response to a surge in books being challenged in libraries, schools, and bookstores. As a founding member of the Banned Books Week Coalition, they are joined with other organizations committed to “increasing awareness of the annual celebration of the freedom to read.”
The books I wanted to read and review for you all will get read and reviewed on another day. I encourage you all to read books that have been banned and challenged in schools, libraries, and bookstores. I’ll see you all tomorrow!
