Day 17 of Blogtober

Readers, last month marked the beginning of the Great Lock-In. I didn’t realize it was a thing until I checked my social media and saw a lot of people talking about it. I remember on September 1st, I made a post on Substack about the adult version of what I did on my summer vacation [insert link], and the updated version of the Substack article is posted here [insert link]. I already knew I wanted to lock into what I wanted to do for the last few months of 2025.

What is The Great Lock-In? For 122 days, people focused on a few key things they wanted to accomplish by the end of 2025. I’ve identified three key areas that require my immediate attention: content creation, self-care, and money management. Admittedly, all three have fallen by the wayside, as life is unpredictable. I’ll break down below what I’ve been doing in those three areas, and I’m including a bonus item as well.

Content Creation

In this category, I have admittedly fallen off the most. This site reopened last month, and I have stuck with it. Blogtober and Blogmas are included in The Great Lock-In, as are weekly posts. I fell off on YouTube, TikTok, and other channels. I decided to give myself a schedule to follow.

  • YouTube and TikTok: one short video or long-form video a week. I admit that I haven’t kept up with it.
  • Substack: one article biweekly
  • Instagram and Facebook: Blogtober and Blogmas content is linked daily, then once a week for the blog
  • Twitter/X: daily posts for blog challenges and The Great Lock-In, then back to once a week

Self-Care

Admittedly, I have neglected my hair, and I want it to be healthy again. I’ll go back to washing and doing my hair once a week, and I also want to start going back to the salon so they can fuss over my hair again. I’m ready to shave my head bald at this point.

Indie Authorship

In a post I made a few days ago, I mentioned that I’m writing a book series. The first one is a novella I want to release next year. I am talking to a graphic designer, and I may be getting my covers for the series done by this individual. I have had scammers try to sell me on things I don’t want under the guise of helping me get my book out to the world.

That’s it for now. Stay tuned for Day 18, and I’ll see you all tomorrow!
