Readers, Blogtober is almost over! The days are shorter, leaves are falling off the trees, and all of the horror movies are being watched. Horror novels are either read, bought, or published this time of year to get into the spirit of Halloween. One prolific horror author, Stephen King, is one author I had no business reading at a young age. Below are the books by King I shouldn’t have read as a young kid and in my teen years, despite being an advanced reader.
The Dark Half: I still can’t wrap my head around this book. Supposedly, the main character has a wife, a set of twins, and an evil twin wreaking havoc in his life. I think it’s time for a reread.
It: I read this as a teen, and everything sailed over my head. Later in my early twenties, I reread it, this time catching the infamous scene toward the end of the book. It’s a no for me, and I’m glad it didn’t make it into the movie that came out in theaters. I’m more partial to the early-90s miniseries. I’ll definitely reread this book and give it the full review it deserves, spoiler-free.
The Long Walk: Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to go to the movies and see this movie. I did enjoy the book. I grew to love a few of the characters, minus the Major. I’m still confused about what happened in the end, and this warrants another read.
I plan to reread these books at some point and discover what I missed through an adult’s perspective. Tomorrow, I am reviewing a King novel. Come back tomorrow to see which one I’m reading!
