Readers, I am back! The days are getting shorter, and the nights are getting longer; I am excited that Fall has made its presence known. The two of us have had an eventful summer, and I’m eager to share it with you. I provided more details on my Substack page.

First things first, I shut down the site for maintenance and made an upgrade. It gave me a chance to write the posts I needed for Blogtober, which is just around the corner. I was able to do some research into what I wanted to do, and I believe it helped me stress a whole lot less for the annual challenge.

Zora went to summer camp, which was sponsored by the after-school program she attends. She visited one of the many beaches, an insect museum, and had a fun overall experience. A classmate invited her to join him in a program that’s much smaller and offers individualized attention to the kids. She’s been thriving ever since.

Zora and I celebrated our birthdays together. A friend of mine treated us to pizza and ice cream at Gino’s East, a popular pizza place here in Chicago. We went during Lollapalooza, and the place wasn’t too crowded. The last time I went, the line was out the door. The three of us had a deep dish pizza, Zora had a pop, and my friend and I had an adult pink lemonade. We went back to my friend’s home, mainly because Zora wanted to play with her Persian cat, Joanie.

I finally got full-time employment at a hospital, and I start tomorrow! I am so happy, I can’t stop grinning from ear to ear. I am working third shift in Environmental Services, and I love it so far. I’m able to pick up Zora from school and drop her off at her grandma’s while I work late. On the days I don’t go in at night, I’ll take Zora to school. My mom is helping me with a budget, and I’ll explain how I’m managing my money and rebuilding my savings in a Blogtober post.

That’s it for today! Blogtober begins next Wednesday, and I’ll have a post for you guys before it starts!
